If you're in pursuit of a romantic dinner getaway, head to Jennifer James, formerly Caf Spoleto, a Mediterranean bistro bathed in a gentle radiance of candlelight. Modest modern art and simple pine tables add to the pacific milieu. Jennifer James is reputed for its rustic, exquisite fare based on the peasant cooking of Italy, Spain and France. The menu changes every few weeks, so regulars are always in for a delicious surprise. We began our dining spree with the palatable leek soup and warm bruschetta with grilled pears. For dinner, we chose the featured item-tender organic chicken nestled under a fresh and fragrant fennel sauce, curly endive, roasted Yukon gold potatoes and grilled mushrooms. Later, we sampled the paella, a delightful saffron-flavored rice combined with risotto, Italian sausage, mussels, chicken, crispy rsti potatoes, tender green beans, and red and gold peppers, all dramatized by the nutty flavored cranberry-bean.

Pretense and attitude!
By hankmail954 on 04/12/2007
Graze closed for the same reasons. Way too little for too much money. Ms. James has a very high opinion of herself but a very low one of her customers apparently. If you are still curious, eat somewhere else first before going or you will leave starving AND broke.

after one lovely lunch at JJ we decided to have my birthday dinner there. Ms. James was in the kitchen that evening and we were all very disappointed. The service was snotty ( Other than the nice young woman from Placitas ) the food came out ice cold& indifferently served. We ordered several bottles of champagne& there was no effort made to bring ice buckets from which to serve. In a small boutique restaurant there is no possible excuse for indifferent food and nasty service. Everyone has a bad day every now and again....but at sixty dollars a place I expect more. I have eaten my around many of the great American and French restaurants over the last 40 years...I can assure you J.J is not among them. Six hundred dollars for eight people is far too high a price to pay for indifferent food and snotty service. Naturally we wish Ms. James good luck in her endeavors....she is a creative chef but if you want fine dining you might consider flying to Denver. We shall surely not return to J.J. or to the possibly chic Graze

The best restaurant in ABQ?
By ratcher on 09/30/2003
This is the place where my wife and I head for special dinners in ABQ. The food is imaginatively prepared, the service is very good, and the wine list is chosen to complement the food. I have had some of the best fish dishes in ABQ here. My one reservation is that the open kitchen can make it warm in the dining room on hot days. But the food is worth a little heat from the kitchen.
