Rate and Write a Review Opened early February 2006, this new separate bar area to an already reputable downtown Ann Arbor brewpub is a nice complement to already solid bar and dining entity. Grizzly Peak Brewery is its own thing, makers of fine beer and even better food. So it was a bonus when the owners opened The Den, adjacent to the building, in the long-empty space that once housed one of Ann Arbor's most popular bars, the Del Rio. The Den is basically a glorified smoking room to the rest of the brewpub, but what a concept. Brick work throughout, as well as maintaining the rustic theme of the facility (the bar has quite a deer head mounted on the wall), a long bar featuring more than a half-dozen taps all lend to the casual comfort here. Booth seating to the rear, some high tables in the middle and a couple of standard tables by the windows facing the street provide plenty of room. Built primarily for smoking guests, it's not too smelly in there, even on a crowded night. So, after you've tossed a few custom ales, enjoyed maybe some hazelnut chicken fettuccine or sea scallops with cider cream, have a smoke and chill.
