By day, Smith's is an unassuming Midtown nightspot that features a better-than-average menu and a few TVs to occupy your eyes when you belly up to the bar. But wander up the steep, narrow staircase in this historic Atlanta landmark (formerly the home of Gene & Gabe's Dinner Theater) at night, and you'll immediately understand what all the buzz is about. The room is small and homey, with tables spread out on nights when the joint's not packed to the gills. The bar is always hopping, but the real attraction is the concert stage -- a semicircular elevated platform cloaked by curtains. Once those babies open, fans are treated to best bands from the local music scene or up-and-coming national acts -- all in all one of Atlanta's finest live music experiences. The sound system is top-notch (local bands rave about the soundman's nimble touch at the boards) and the lighting surprisingly intricate for such a small venue. With ticket prices usually under 20 bucks, it's easy to see why Smith's is rapidly becoming the city's hottest intimate club. -- Bret Love

There's more to SOB than is being told. There is a game room, deck, dinning room, main bar and the Atlanta room all before you go upstairs.

I've even seen big name acts here (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Cake, Michael Franti...to name a few) This place rocks! It is on my permanent "watch list"!
