Toulouse is an obvious choice for a romantic dinner with its serious wine selection, highly rated cuisine, and loads and loads of ambiance. Toulouse was originally a French restaurant that evolved into an American eatery. The menu could be described as American comfort food with French bistro influences. Located in South Buckhead at the back of a strip mall, Toulouse is a large, loft space with wood floors and an open kitchen, complete with a wood-burning fireplace. Outdoor seating is available on the patio. Wine recommendations accompany each entrTe on the menu and diners can order most by the glass. Dinner will generally run around $35 per person. Toulouse's bar is a popular spot to enjoy a glass of wine with a friend or participate in regular wine tastings. -- Kay Hershberger

My husband and I ate at this restaurant this week. We had a wonderful experience. We got personal attention, their selection of wine is the best in the ciy, and the food was great. The location just added to the romantic flare - not alot of people know about this restaurant, and it was absolutely great!

a gem of a restaurant

I never tried Toulouse because of the "behind the building location"...what a wonderful surprise! I felt like we were at an exclusive place that only the locals know! The place is furnished with beautiful gallery style oil paintings. The dining room is intimate , warm and cozy. Not pretentious at all. The service was professional and warm. The menu was lovely and our meals were great. Good portion sizes. Wine pairings suggested for each meal. Give it a try! We will definately become regulars!

You'll never know what you have until it is gone. My husband and I miss this restaurant terribly. We lived in Atlanta for 4 years and moved back to NY, and at least 3-4 times a month we say "I wish this was a Toulouse night. Aside from being the most romantic restaurant in Atlanta, it is also one of the best if not THE BEST. The food is incredible, our favorites were the lamb, the veal shank and the "fritter" for the appetizer. (I do not remember the exact name of the "fritter", but if it is still on the menu, it is a must have. Their wine prices were the most reasonable we found in the Atalnta restaurant scene. We recommend the "Fleur de Carneros" from Carneros Creek...we got eengaged that evening after sharing a bottle of that and eating a most memorable meal with the help of the Toulouse staff. Several nights we ate on the balcony and on cold nights we were certain to get a window seat. All in all, if you have not tried Toulouse, please do, if you have, please return for the sake of two New Yorkers who miss this restaurant more than words can say and for a meal that is beyond expectations.
