Where, oh where to go with the kids where the parental types can get a good meal too? This spot, in the heart of Virginia Highlands, is the go-to place in our household. On Friday nights, you can have a good, inexpensive, fresh-steamed lobster special while Junior chows down on a pancake with syrup (steamed broccoli, a pickle and french fries on the side!). A varied menu, comfy booths, attentive service, the (choose one) Braves/ Hawks/ Falcons/ Dawgs/ Jackets on TV, beer, wine and lemonade, a pin-ball machine or two and Bazooka bubble gum (with a cartoon) as you depart -- what more could you want? Kids eat free from the kid's menu on Mondays and Tuesdays, and you can enroll them in the Birthday Club so they can enjoy a complimentary meal and see their name printed on the menu every year when that big day rolls around. -- Judith Alexander Augustine
