Restaurant by day, club by night, Apache is making the most of its space and lease by burning the candle at both ends. Located near downtown and Midtown off of Spring Street, the spot stays up late to host jazz, open-mike sessions, and spoken-word performances in the shadows of the old originator of such a scene, Yin Yang. Laid-back surroundings match the bohemian vibe and crowd, which shows up fashionably late and doesn't mind being part of the entertainment. Just play it cool if you recognize a face or two -- notables like Ludacris have been known to grace the joint. The paid entertainers are usually pretty talented, and their reward is an audience that's really into what they do. Don't worry about eating before you go. The spot lives up to the second word in its name by featuring a Tex-Mex menu that's sufficient at times, commendable at others.

A little too black for this white boy I love jazz but this is hip hop In the older times jazz was universal not black or white and all the entertainers were GREAT Dizzy and Chet and Jerry Mulligan and Fran Jefferies and Peggie Lee Lena and Simone and all the others and the most beautiful of all Nancy Only my opinion an old white guy that still loves Jazz
