Rate and Write a Review Formerly housed in an 80-year-old Buckhead cottage, Bacchanalia's current luxurious digs in a slickly converted industrial space seem well matched to the upscale culinary styles of chef-owners Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison, combining the comfort of the familiar with an innovative edge. The dining room pairs postmodern design elements with clean, simple lines, creating a romantic environment. The open kitchen, behind a glass partition, offers diners a full view of its busy goings-on. Bacchanalia has been consistently ranked one of the Top 10 restaurants in the city by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and was rated the city's finest by Zagat five years in a row. Quatrano and Harrison, who were jointly nominated for Best Chef in the Southeast by the James Beard Foundation in 2000 and won the Southeast title in 2003, change up their four-course, prix-fixe dinner menu daily, using only the freshest ingredients (including locally grown seasonal and organic produce, much of which comes from their own gardens). Simplicity seems to be the menu's central theme, whether it's entrees such as butter-poached lobster and wood-grilled squab with fava bean ragout, appetizers such as osetra caviar on tiny blini with egg and cream accompaniments, or simply a diverse selection of fresh imported cheeses. Harrison personally assembles Bacchanalia's impressive wine selection. And since the sommelier is also the chef, his selections are tailored to complement the evening's menu. After you eat, browse the adjacent retail shop, Star Provisions, which stocks gourmet meats, fish, cheeses, wines and produce. -- Bret Love
