Hip hop producer, rapper and songwriter Jermaine Dupri expands his media empire with a soul food cafe in his hometown Atlanta. The founder of So So Def records is now also claiming dibs on the phrase "So So Good," motto for his upscale cafe. Though the place is definitely routed in southern comfort (we like appetizers like the tomatoes Dupri crawfish and crab-stuffed mushrooms), it's also eclectic while appealing to a nice, broad clientele (much like J.D.'s taste in music). Perks: The spot serves breakfast all day and is open late-night. Now that's southern hospitality.

But Son's Place is more represenative. Who made these lists anyway?.
By Drfunluver on 05/30/2008
Okay I guess if you are tranforming this foodcategory 's image ....the best soul food is always broke..They use todays sales to buy fir cash the next days offerings....so why haven't y'all included Son's Place...It is arguably the best known (and wonderful) of the Soul food emporiums. Locals know Son's relationship to icon "Deacon Burton" (remarkable how the fruit falls so close to the tree) who purveyed his true Southern fare to the people who understand this food genre best. Sons and DAWters (be sure to drag out that last syllabe) of the old Southern FOOD aristocracy.

Great Food Mediocre Service
By MJK321 on 05/25/2008
My husband and I frequent Cafe Dupri on the weekends with our small daughter. The food is outstanding. Whether you enjoy the So So Def Omlet (which has asiago cheese, spinach, turkey sausage, peppers, and onions), the shrimp and grits, the AMAZING turkey burger, or some other delicious entree, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!. The service, however, on the weekend is less than desirable. If you arrive after 10AM expect long delays in being seated and getting your food. Five stars for the food but only two for the service
