After selling millions of records, being nominated for a Grammy and starring in a major motion picture about his hometown, Atlanta hip-hop star T.I. needed a place to kick back with his fans and friends. So, he opened Club Crucial, a nightspot located in the Bankhead neighborhood in which he grew up. Known for hits like U Dont Know Me and Bring Em Out, as well as for his roll in the movie ATL, which glimpses life in Georgias capital city, T.I. has made sure that Club Crucial is as hype as his songs. In addition to three full bars and a dance floor to shake yo thang on, Crucial has pool tables, an exclusive V.I.P. room, and a kitchen that serves Southern favorites like fish, shrimp and hot wings. The clubs 12 plasma televisions and 84 projector add plenty of visual stimulation to the mix during its three nights of business. On Mondays aspiring MCs try to wow the crowd during Hustle & Flow open mic night. The weekend kicks off with Free Friday, when there is no charge for parking or admission, and drink specials run all night. The big night, however, is Celebrity Saturday, which is when T.I. and celebrity pals like Ludacris and Usher are most likely to show up.

Huge Disappintment

This of course was my first Club Experience in the city known as "Black Hollywood" and for some odd reason the celebrities stayed in doors during my visit. I arrived to Club Crucial about 12:30am, which to me was a good time. After paying $20 to park in the main parking lot I joined the line at the door. I observed the other women and began to feel very overdressed in my fited black Baby Phat dress and my gold Baby Phat Pumps. My hair was laid and my makeup was MAC laid as well. Being from South Florida, I thought I 'd fit right in with Black Hollywood.But..the other women were in tennis shoes and shorts and I kid you not some women were dressed as though they were Omish women in long skirts.I was shocked to say the least. I was like maybe its dress casual night. So I reach security and its a bit frustrated with me handing him my ID. For some reason he could care less about my ID Instead he wanted to look in my wristlet to make sure I was toting a rat tail comb b/c those were ABSOLUTELY not allowed. So I go in and pay $10, (the cost is between $10-20) and after paying is when I show my ID. Wow. I sneak a peek around the corner to see if its "thick", while I wait for my friends to join me. But everyone inside is dressed as though they were going to the Fair. No one was wearing heels or pumps. Just slides, sandals, and tennis shoes. I immediately utter "I NEED A DRINK!" We head to the bar and I ask for Baileys on the Rocks. Guess what, NO BAILEYS! What a suprise. So I settle for malibu. I walk out to the floor and I'm anxious to just have a good night, but the DJ was not to my liking. I'm guessing all the music he played was Underground music because I didnt know a single song. They didn't play any T.I, no Lil Wayne, No Shawty Lo, No Shop Boyz, No Ciara, No Usher, ...no one from Atlanta. So of course, there was no Rick Ross, no Pit Bull, No JayZ, No 50, No Webbie, No Plies, Boosie, ...and i could go on and on. It was a huge disappointment. Nothing worse than hitting a club and not enjoying yourself. I dont know if I was there on a bad night, but I did my research, and saturday night WAS in fact Celebrity night, but my only guess is that I was the celebrity guest that night! Because it didn't get any better than me in that Black Baby Phat dress and Gold Pumps.
