With its space-aged, retro interior, Crescent Moon resembles a place where the Apollo astronauts might have come to hammer down a hearty breakfast before blastoff. Funky, deep colors and '50s-style metal kitchen tables make this downtown Decatur hotspot both fun and functional. A genuine diner, Crescent Moon's menu has everything you'd expect -- burgers, open-faced sandwiches, meatloaf, and pot roast, but the real draw here is breakfast. Regardless of the time of day, you can order the biggest, baddest breakfast in Dekalb County. The house special, called 'The Usual,' is a traditional breakfast of sausage, eggs, biscuits and grits. For a more unusual choice, try the cream cheese scramble, a favorite among regulars. A variety of bulging wraps are the hot ticket during lunch hour as bureaucrats from local county offices flock to the 'Moon' like Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. Don't let the line out front scare you away. There's plenty of room inside and they turn tables faster than a shooting star. -- Jim Carr

Blah

Since it's called a diner, I expected decent sized portions. They were miniscule at best and I'm fairly petite. Other members of my family were disappointed...we sort of expected the Food Network's show Diners, Dives type of place. And the waitress told us that she had nothing to do.... she's sure we wouldn't mind if she stood around and chatted with us. We were itching to call the manager, but didn't, to save her job.

Best Pancakes and eggs i have ever had ,the food is great. I order the traditional every time i go, i've never enjoyed the bacon or sausage that comes with it but maybe that is just my taste.

Can't beat it for breakfast
By tleo on 01/12/2007
Omelets are tasty (particularly the Farmer's), French toast is mouth-watering and the rest is just fine. Best of all are the biscuits -- the Flying Biscuit can take a back seat. And the service is always upbeat and cheery. More than I can say for some other breakfast places ...
