When you go to a place with a name like Daddy D'z, you'd better be expecting some soul. This rib shack/blues venue offers the sweetest tastes of both food and music. On the edge of downtown's southeast end, Daddy D'z has been a hometown favorite for years. Regular blues acts take the stage, adding to the already soulful essence of the food. The ribs are slow-cooked and big, with side dishes such as rum-beans taking your taste buds to the next level. Daddy D'z gets the recommendations for its authenticity -- real soul cooking and real blues. Don't fall for the imitators; Daddy D'z is the real deal, Atlanta style. -- Matt Wright

Service: Slow to No
By goodeditor on 01/28/2005
I love Daddy D'z food, especially the chopped pork, turkey, candied yams and green beans. BUT - and this has become a Big But - the service at all times is very slow, and there is never sufficient waitstaff for the customer demand. At lunch there earlier this week we never received a bill (so could not have left our money on the table) and stood in line to pay for not less than thirty minutes. The management blamed the delay on people using credit cards to pay. Folks, this is 2005 - everyone uses a card. Some of those in line said it's a good thing the food is so delicious or they'd never go back, but if you're on a lunch hour, the great taste of the food isn't going to be worth it. Daddy D'z needs to hire some help, or they'll be losing my business.
