At Dante's you can sail the high seas while spearing your dinner, and we're not talking fish here. Fondue is the name of the game at this fantasy-driven fondue palace and jazz club. (Live jazz is performed Tuesdays through Sundays, 7 to 11PM and Fridays and Saturdays until 12:30AM on the restaurant's inhouse ship. There is a $7 charge to board.) Tasmanian beef, marinated pork tenderloin, chicken breast or breaded shrimp are the meat choices to skewer and plunge into hot oil. There are cheese fondues as well and, for something different, handmade Chinese dumplings, which may be eaten as served or fondued. And then there's the chocolate, many people's sole rationale for fondue. The heated Swiss chocolate pot, served with fresh fruits in season, requires a reservation two days ahead and is not served on Fridays, Saturdays or holidays. Note that it's prepared for 6 to 12 diners, so arrive with a very big sweet tooth, or a group of friends. -- Edna McCown

Great Atmosphere! BUT *disappointing food and service*
By LNix101 on 07/03/2008
My husband and I went to Dante's for our anniversary. He paid extra (not worth it) for our seats which overlooked the live jazz band (which was great!). While unimpressed with the bland, flavorless, expensive food that we cooked ourselves at our table, a man who had cleaned off a table trips and *spills someone's leftover sauce all over me and our dinners*. A manager came over and offered to reimburse us only for the extra money we paid for those seats ($25)-NOT the ruined meal, not the ruined dress. Needless to say, we won't be going back and even without the spill-incident, I wouldn't recommend it. (And no, you can't just get the chocolate fondue - too many stipulations! It's ridiculous!)

everything awful above and more. Try the Melting Pot if you want fondue. You can get chocolate any night.

An Atlanta original
By jonathondavida on 08/12/2006
My wife and I love Dante's. The fact that the atmospere hasn't changed over the years is a delight to this Atlanta native. Boarding the ship is like stepping back to a time when Atlanta was new and exciting. Something these new trendy places just can't sell. I have dined at Dante's several times a year for the past three decades. The fondue, atmosphere ,and service are always beyond expectation. The jazz trio is always brilliant. If trendy chain restaraunts are your thing, The Melting Pot is for you. If you are looking for a unique dining adventure, Head to Dante's.

Good atmosphere, great food
By abccrazyrabbit on 04/07/2006
We thoroughly enjoyed Dante's. The food was excellent, romantic atmosphere, and good service. First time for fondue, it was very good. We were disappointed, though, that none of the desserts were fondue, and there was a $7 cover charge to sit in the ship to hear the jazz band.
