Don't you just hate it when you need a whole pig and you haven't a clue where to shop? Well your worries are over. As ever, this is still the urban market where you can find pigs as well as every conceivable part of said animal, including chitterlings, feet and ears. This old place has been spruced up of late and has never before been so bright and cheery. Individual booths sell everything from mountain oysters to Red Velvet cake to humongous bunches of turnip greens. Roy's Seafood has rabbit, frogs legs and turtle meat. Incongruously, just "next door" to Roy's, a rustically elegant Italian market is stocked with grilled antipasti and redolent cheeses and offers an olive oil sampling at your request. A few steps further, you'll find Ama's Tropical Market, where you can buy fresh snails, Fufu flour, Marmite, African garments, and Ting, the Jamaican grapefruit juice. Stroll on and you'll stumble across charmingly disparate shops ranging from a Dollar Plus Store to a cellular shop. Several prepared hot-food vendors peddle fragrant dishes. Tables are scattered about where you can sit and eat and watch it all go by.

You're in for a long wait if you're trying to buy chiterlings around the holidays. The lines at Sweet Auburn Curb Market (SACM) are out the door. The pork is plentiful and the prices are cheap. It's more than a shopping experience, it's an event. All types of food and all types of people stroll through the rows of edibles and merchandise. It is a very positive vibe as far as shopping goes. Two thumbs way up!!!!
