Cameli's Gourmet Pizza Joint   

If you're in Midtown for lunch or dinner and hankering for pizza, drop by Cameli's in Ford Factory Square, bordering City Hall East. Family-owned and operated, Cameli's uses fresh herbs, spices and veggies and makes its own bread and family-recipe sausage daily. You can build your own pizza or monster slice or choose the pizza luna, half a stuffed pie. But it's the specialty combinations that are truly intriguing: consider the Tranquillo, with its pesto sauce and sauteed chicken, or the meat-lover's Papa C, loaded with pepperoni, the aforementioned sausage, onions, mushrooms and black olives. And the calzone comes with mozzarella, pesto-ricotta and two toppings, for a total of $6. The ambience here is pure pizza parlor, with booths inside seating a total of 50 or so, with a few tables outside. Beer's the only alcoholic beverage served, along with soda, Sobe and bottled water. Cameli's offers free delivery after 5PM to surrounding neighborhoods within a 3- to 4-mile radius, with a $9 minimum order. -- Edna McCown
