The Sands is among the most populist of the Atlantic City casinos. With a couple of exceptions, the dining options run to buffets and casual sit-down spots. While the signature Copa Room used to play host to Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack, these days the talent is something less than A-list. But the Sands, like a lot of Atlantic City casinos, revives its fortunes with gaming tables. The poker rooms are open 24/7. Baccarat and other table games like blackjack dominate the floor, while the slots now print out points redeemable for buffet discounts. Speaking of deals, rooms at the Sands are available on the cheap, even for low-rollers. But the Sands is by no means a piker's paradise. Two onsite restaurants -- Medici and Brighton Steakhouse -- earn high marks from Zagat both for the food and atmosphere.
