Some of the prettiest people on Sixth Street may be found in high concentrations at the Sky Lounge, where baggy pants and pagers give way to black slacks and wireless electronic organizers. But aside from an unusually sleek patronage, the atmosphere also benefits from a noticeably capital-intensive interior, made up of granite walls, steel girders and blue velvet drapery, all of which is further augmented by a carefully coordinated lighting system and associated dance club. On most nights, notable local DJs spin trance, house, electronica and other upbeat genres; the dance floor acts as the club's focal point and can comfortably hold upwards of 150 patrons. Libations lean towards colorful mixed drinks and citrus-flavored malts over beer, and this is especially true in the ultra-posh VIP lounge, which is located upstairs and accessible only by elevator. -- Barrett Brown
