What long ago served as an ironsmith's building has shifted production to barbecue, and Iron Works BBQ has been successful enough in this pursuit to win praise from presidents, actors and everyone else who gets around and knows how to eat well. The restaurant's pork loin, pork ribs, beef, chicken, brisket and sausage are all available in the familiar smokehouse quantities of the plate (the pound and the family pack), but they're also served to hundreds of the Iron Works' admirers around the country via FedEx. Pick up some similarly admirable sides such as beans and potato salad plus the essential bread, pickle and onion add-ons. During the winter months, chili also makes the menu. Among the quainter features of this barbecue paradise (besides having been designated a historical monument) is that you can get anything that you care to bring in smoked at a rate of about a dollar a pound.
