A fixture in East Austin for time out of mind, Nuevo Leon continues to serve enthusiastic locals who often pack the place to the bursting point on weekends. There's nothing particularly innovative about the menu -- it's primarily combination platters featuring options like the can't-miss tacos, enchiladas and flautas -- but the margaritas are enormous and the decor, which blends unusually high ceilings, mirrors, and wrought iron, is certainly memorable. -- Wes Simonds
