Think part Italian restaurant and part Irish pub, accentuated by what many have dubbed Maryland's best crab cakes. It may sound like an eclectic mix, but Angelina's succeeds. A Baltimore tradition since 1952, the restaurant's trademark green awning and shamrock-adorned sign, and its cozy, old-fashioned dining room inside have long sealed Angelina's status as a local landmark. And then there are the crab cakes -- famous clumps of jumbo lump meat fresh out of the Chesapeake Bay that beckon to visitors from all over the country. Baltimore takes the cake for crab -- everyone knows that -- and Angelina's cakes, the recipients of numerous awards, reign supreme. There's plenty else decorating the menu, too -- there's a plethora of popular appetizers like the seafood sampler and homemade mozzarella, Italian specialty entrees and seafood galore -- so even the most finicky eaters depart fully satisfied. If you're in the mood for a pint or two, descend the stairs to Angelina's basement pub called the Sherbeen, an authentic "illegal Irish drinking establishment" where frothy Guinness has been poured for years. -- Rachele Lawton

Angelina's Restaurant is Now a Front for Money Laundering Operation
By Reteetc on 07/09/2008
The neighbors of the restaurant (and myself) have an interesting story, one that I don't think I can repeat in it's entirety, but according to them, the building's main function isn't a restaurant anymore, it's something else. The restaurant business is just a front. Being a local, I have heard this over and over. Everyone has the same story when they go in there - place is dead, service is horrible, it smells, dingy, dark, NO CUSTOMERS, yet they continue to stay in business. Hmmm? I 'd love to see their federal tax returns because they would show that the restaurant is a front. If they're claiming big bucks, it's not from customers. It's a front to launder money from drugs. These aren't Italians who now own it - one guess as to their color.

New Management Hasn't Helped
By Weyandt on 07/02/2008
I live just a few doors away from Angelina's, and every management change hasn't been able to restore Angelina's to it's glory. Under the most recent management, we tried eating there again, and it was the same story that has been for the past several years. We were the only people in the restaurant, but couldn't get waited on. The bus girl eventually came out and took our order. We got our (cold and overpriced) meal about an hour later. What needs to happen is for new management to fire the entire staff and start from scratch.

First time

Having read the reviews online, we were hesitant to visit Angelinas but decided to give it a try due to the new ownership. We're so glad we did. The staff was friendly and made you feel at home. The food did not let us down either, fresh ingredients and nice servings . Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
