If, on a Friday or Saturday night, you happen to be digging into a plate of those famous fried onion rings or a crisp-fried softshell crab at Burke's Restaurant, you might never guess that there's a full-fledged comedy club upstairs. Credit that to good soundproofing, because the Comedy Factory is always ringing with laughter as up-and-coming comedic talent takes to the stage. Offering two shows a night, the comedy club's material runs from mild to raunchy. With its cafe-table seating and well-placed stage, Comedy Factory manages to retain an intimate feel despite its 200-seat capacity. -- Cynthia Glover

back to the imrpov for me
By loudzeek on 01/11/2005
I hate to be the one to disagree, but the smoky atmosphere and the chilly air were too much for me. My father has emphysema and I called prior to coming down. I was told it was a smoke free environment. To make matters worse, they had us sit way in the back of the room, right beside the entrance. I complained to the manager on duty (Dan) and he said that if I wanted a non-smoking section then the nearest ventilation was by the cold entranceway. It was as if he didn’t even care or remember talking to me on the phone when I made the reservations. When I complained again they offered me a free side of French fries. What kind of place is this?
