It's a sure sign of aging Generation Xers that the 1980s, the decade that demographers hoped time would forget, is suddenly in vogue. How else to explain the appearance of Culture Club at the corner of Market and Lombard streets downtown, across from the Power Plant? All icons of the '80s are celebrated here, and there's a good chance you'll get to practice your electric slide (sans nuptials) or reminisce about MTV's olden days. Heart-thumping sound and blazing lights accompany all the era's musical trends - from heavy metal to slower standards that have been banished to the land of easy listening. If retro entertainment isn't your bag, or if you insist on severing ties to the decade that produced "Joanie Loves Chachi," 21st century mixes may be more appealing (that's why there's two sets of dance floors and DJs).
