Not all the finds on North Howard Street's Antique Row are old-time treasures, nor do they necessarily carry expensive price tags. Gambrino's of Spain has taken over the space previously occupied by Southern Blues, and the simple storefront is exploding all myths about the carryout. No pizza, cheesesteaks or chicken wings here -- only large helpings of incredibly inexpensive takeout, with dishes showing off the time-honored Spanish tradition of slow roasting over open flames. Standard menu items come in whole and half portions. Be warned: The larger can serve two or more, while the half orders might still be too much for a single sitting. Charbroil chicken or pork ribs, roasted pork loin in mushroom sauce, shrimp in garlic sauce and chicken/ribs combo all come with fries and yellow rice. Daily specials are likely to include shrimp in tomato sauce with hot cherry peppers, sirloin steak or chicken breast with shrimp, or shrimp Gambrino's, the signature house dish featuring gargantuan shrimp in a rich sauce made from onions, peppers and mushrooms. If you've got to feed your traditional carryout fix, try a salad or chomp a fish or chicken sandwich. Otherwise, remember to order some to-go flan and indulge your taste buds. -- Pete Kerzel
