With Baltimore as its 10th location, the owner of Howl at the Moon knows how to show people a good time. Jimmy Bernstein has come up with a brilliant concept that is fun and energetic, even on a night when the place is less than packed. Dueling piano players pound out the tunes on a low stage in the middle of the barroom, allowing for customer interaction that includes taking special requests. This is strictly a bar, but between the giant Hurricane drinks and the wild music, you won't notice the lack of nibbles. The piano players are all local talent, hand- selected by a team of Howl at the Moon's national entertainment managers. Once the lineup of musicians is completed, new players are only auditioned on an as-needed basis. Howl at the Moon is located in Baltimore's festive Power Plant Live -- a conglomeration of bars and restaurants within a short walking distance of the Inner Harbor. Plenty of garage and metered street parking is available, or you can splurge and use Power Plant Live's valet parking.

Drinks are a ripoff
By futonbarbie54 on 06/22/2004
This place can be fun, but if they cater too much to the young 20something crowd that mobs the Power Plant Live its not nearly as fun. Hard to sing along to a piano version of Metallica requests. Even with tables of 40+ age groups they push the hard rock which just isn't suited for a piano sing-along. But the 3 star rating mostly applies to the DRINKS, which are a total rip off. 2 of us split 2 buckets of margueritas & no one felt a thing!? The 1st bucket was all ice & the 2nd was all mixer- for 20.00 each. And another guest's cranberry & vodka was all cranberry by the 3rd one. Definitely stick to beer to get your money's worth.

KRS1978's Review
By krs1978 on 05/27/2002
This place is a lot of fun. Great for a night when you don't want to go to a dance club. Tell the piano players that it is your friend's birthday and they will be up on the piano! Get there early to get a table(it gets pretty crowded) and order a bucket of pucker!
