Rate and Write a Review Stop by this casual neighborhood tavern in Catonsville to drink down a few cold ones with friends. Taking a cue from its name, Loafers is a casual place for good food and drink. The bar area is large and comfortable -- not unlike the set of Cheers. The bartenders are friendly, and serve up strong mixed drinks in addition to the usual bottle and draft beers. Enjoy typical bar food like wings and burgers, while you watch the sporting event of your choice on TV. A more extensive menu of American dishes like steamed crabs, steak and pasta is also available. On the weekends, you can rock out on the dance floor to live music from local cover bands. -- Elayne Kochis

Nice remodel
The place has gotten an upgrade. They have remodelled and it actually looks like a place decent citizens would go to. However, the food was better when it looked like a dive. They used to have homemade french fries but now they seem like store bought like everyone elses. The crab cakes are still decent but were way better with the old cook, too much mayo or saucey stuff on the inside. Still a good place to go for a decently priced dinner.
Not Bad At All
For those who think Loafer's is a bad place - they don't get out to the right paces then. If they want rowdiness and fights - go elsewhere. The atmosphere is nice - friendly - a mix of old and young. The food is tasty especially the red crab soup or the cream of crab - some of the best I have ever eaten. The prime rib is exquisite and tastefully done to your order. The drink prices are reasonable and comparitive to other sports bars. The employess are generally nice especially Bob, Kate and as we call him - Cancun Steve. Play some darts - have some fun - do some drinking and eat. Again if you want rowdy - go elsewhere. And by the way - and mark this down - on October 17th - SURREAL plays - what better local band is there ?
You'll feel at home!!
The bartenders are very courteous and friendly, and you feel like you are in your own home when they are done with you! Not only do they have a main bar area, but they have an upper level for food and drinks, and bands on the weekends. The food has been very good lately since they hired new chefs, and I recommend the Taco Salad..its HUGE and very tasty. The waitresses are competent and easy to laugh with...if you like food similar to TGIF, but with a non-corporate atmosphere, please try it out...I think you'll like it! Oh, and ask what entertainment is playing on the weekend...they attract many of the top bands, and the dance floor is ample.
