Save the airfare to Mexico and slip into the Blue Agave instead. You wouldn't know it from the tame brick exterior, but inside you'll find authentic south-of-the-border appeal. Wood floors, stucco walls and Mexican tiled bars and tables provide an excellent backdrop for the wealth of Mexican artistry that covers the walls. Everything from clay figurines to punched-tin lanterns to a welded mariachi band combine to overwhelm you with the flavor of real Mexico -- far from the Americanized version you're used to. Authentic decor pairs well with the authentic dishes. There are no fajitas in sight at Blue Agave. Moles are the house specialty, in every form and concentration, along with a range of appealing burritos, tacos and slow-roasted pork. The menu changes seasonally to reflect dishes served in different Mexican regions throughout the year. Both vegetarians and carnivores alike can find flavor-packed food to please. Sometimes this place can get packed, but it's worth the wait. Margaritas at Blue are excellent, but go light on tequila tastings -- there are more than 64 to choose from -- if you want to remember the meal. -- Laura Maguire

Awsome Food Drink & Atmosphere
By joseplumber on 06/30/2007
The Blue Agave defines mexican food & drink in Baltimore. Elizabeth, the owner, and Chef Martin have completely redone the menu with fine mexican fare and excellent regional dishes. Calimari you can die for. Plus the only true Tequileria outside of New York or Chicago right here in Baltimore. Staff is always friendly and attentive. No Tex Mex-No Southwest-No "latino" food; go somewhere else if you want run of the mill fare. But if you want to experience new tastes and flavors you won't be disappointed.

Great Dinner @ Blue Agave
By nakbj00 on 03/22/2007
Dinner was fabulous! We had the Plantain encrusted Chilean Sea Bass that came with Agave rice...delicious and the tender braised short ribs...out of sight! They came with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and veggies. The horseradish cream was just the right "temp"! We started out with prickley pear marguritas and had a wonderful appetizer...Guacamole Fresco. The fresh lime jusice and cilantro just hit the spot! The service was excellent and the hostess (who we found out was the owner!) came over during our meal to see if everything was to our satisfaction. We said," YES, and we'll be back! And next time we'll bring our neighbors!" You just have to try this place!
