Few restaurants create the overwhelmingly romantic mood that the Brass Elephant does, and that atmosphere keeps this Mount Vernon staple packed with satisfied diners. Chairs upholstered in rich rose share space with marble fireplaces, intricately designed teak, crystal chandeliers and Tiffany skylights to set the mood. Pheasant terrine, ricotta-stuffed eggplant, and hearts of palm salad are satisfying appetizers. Black Angus filet, balsamic-glazed duck breast and fusilli with crab and shrimp are dinner favorites, and the Brass Elephant always has a vegetarian dish on the menu. Entrees are filling enough that you won't need a late-night snack, but easily eaten in time to make a performance at the nearby Meyerhoff Symphony Hall or Lyric Opera House. Before or after dining, if time permits, visit the upstairs Tusk Lounge.
