No typical brewpub, the Brewer's Art brings a taste of Europe (and plenty of Belgian suds) to a grand midtown townhouse replete with columns at the entrance and an inviting basement bar. Artichoke-and-cheese ravioli shares the menu with seared Alaskan halibut, grilled spring vegetable ratatouille with portabella and toasted pine nuts, so does waterzooi, a thick, creamy Belgian seafood stew. Seasonal items are rotated throughout the year, so the menu always has new flavors to sample. Before, during or after your meal, hoist one of the homemade beers brewed on the premises. There's something for everyone's palate, from the rich House Pale Ale to the hoppy Ozzy to the smooth but potent Cerberus Tripel. Limited quantities of special blends are available, as are a selection of wines, whiskeys and brandies. Below the main dining room sits a subterranean tavern filled with a bar, comfy chairs and well-worn sofas. The Brewer's Art draws an eclectic mix of University of Baltimore students, mid-city business people and adventurous drinkers and diners that is as varied as the potables that lure them to Charles Street.
