Restaurants like Ciao Bella preserve Little Italy's reputation for pleasant dining. Rather than taking the overblown, rope-in-the-tourists route, it maintains a steady, gracious course. The kitchen turns out good food at reasonable prices for a dedicated crowd of local regulars in winter and boaters from area marinas in summer. It is not inexpensive, but it does offer value. The dining rooms are handsome, with framed paintings and crisp white linens. And the menu rounds up all those favorites we've come to know and love from the Italian-American lexicon -- like chicken parmigiana and fettuccine Alfredo -- punctuated by such creations as veal Ciao Bella (involtini of veal with prosciutto and provolone, capped by a mushroom-sherry sauce) and shrimp Ricardo (plump shrimp in a cream sauce spiked with orange and jalapeno peppers). The restaurant is widely known for its signature crab toast, a mountain of crab Imperial topped with provolone and cognac cream sauce. -- Cynthia Glover

Great food and atmosphere
By MooreGrits on 06/17/2008
Our son and daughter-in-law had there rehearsal dinner there. The food was amazing and the owner Tony made it a very special evening for a very special couple. When we get back to Baltimore, Ciao Bella will be the first restaurant we will go to.

Tony's Pride and Joy
By arwmedia on 02/20/2007
Not only is the food at Ciao Bella first rate, the service and ambience are unequalled anywhere else in Little Italy. Owner-Chef Tony Gambino is a stickler for the little touches and makes sure his diners, be they regulars or newcomers, are comfortable when they arrive and well sated when they leave. The wait staff is attentive without being intrusve, the portions are substantial without being overpowering, and the flavor! Molto Bene! They are lots of good restaurants in Baltimore's Little Italy, and some that are truly outstanding. Ciao Bella is definitely one of the latter.

Terrible
By jeffdisinger on 01/03/2006
We had a reservation and waited 15 minutes. Then we sat for about 15 more until the waiter came. The menu was a little more expensive than I had thought $28-$34 for a meal. We got the food and it was horrible. The filet was dry and bland. The veal had a hair in it. I will never eat here again!!!!
