All along, Hampden ? smack dab in the middle of the city -- has remained the same blue-collar community it was 40 years ago. And this cinderblock cube on the Avenue, with a neon Bud sign filling one small square of glass high up on one wall, is the same local bar you could have walked into in 1960. It is incredibly smoky, and the beer selection is pretty much limited to mass-produced lagers, but the drafts are reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. There's a dart league on Thursdays; if you want to play, just show up.

aS LONG AS zISSIMOS DOORS ARE OPEN, WE DON'T NEED CASINOS IN mD. tHEY WERE JUST BUSTED LAST WEEK FOR PAYING OFF PLAYERS. dIDN'T STOP THEM, THEY ARE STILL PAYING THE PATRONS & THE DRUGS ARE STILL FLOWING. tHE lIQUOR board just keeps turning their heads when it comes to this bar. The bar just changed hands with all kind of illegal & fraudulent transactions. As long as you know the right people & have the cash , you can do anything in this bar,
