Beyond the strip-mall exterior awaits a dining adventure designed to please margarita-seekers and below-border cuisine aficionados alike. At El Azteca, look for old favorites done well -- warm, crisp chips, snappy housemade salsa and smooth margaritas. Diversions from the well-eaten path of tacos, enchiladas and burritos include roast pork and spicy shrimp. And don't pass on the tamales, which are served tender and steaming in their cornhusks. Terra cotta tiles and straw-backed chairs fill an impressive dining room. On weekends, tequila-sipping suburbanites pack the adjoining bar. Attractive stucco archways lined with stained glass divide the two rooms, contributing to an environment that's more Cancun than Clarksville. -- Penny Colston

good food, decent prices, poor service

The food, is incredible. Obviously, people only go for the food, since the service is by far some of the worst I have ever recieved. The prices are reasonable, not great, but certainly not unheard of. There is a nice variety of foods, even for a vegetarian. I reccomend getting carry out because of the long wait for a table on any evening and the slow, unwilling service. The Queso dip is great on some evenings, but the recipe seems to change day by day, and for the steep price it sometimes does not taste worth it. Try it at lunch time, the prices are better and it's not nearly as crowded.
