So many Canton establishments walk that fine line between restaurant and bar. However, JD's Smokehouse is not one of them. While the food is a big part of the draw here, this is a bar through and through. It's made for elbow bending of the most serious kind. Anchoring one corner of O'Donnell Square, this dimly lit pub with grungy wooden floors has all the basic bar toys -- pool table, darts, video games and TVs -- and the tables are bar height. Beer choices -- in draft and bottles -- are more than most people could safely sample in an evening, and you have to order food from the bartender, who brings it out to your table. Though the lack of table service might make the food seem like an afterthought, it's not. Thick-cut fries, pulled pork sandwiches and even burgers that have spent time in the smoker are all a cut above typical pub grub. Meals are served with a selection of six homemade barbecue sauces.
