Looney's Pub, on the bustling bar-filled Canton Square, is a destination for softball players, tired workers and sports-crazy fans who want to watch the big game. There's nothing magical about the successful recipe, though a little Irish good luck from owner Bill Larney probably doesn't hurt. Beer specials abound -- check the chalkboard listing them in the cozy dining room -- and a wide selection of Irish suds are available (including Cider, Harp and Tetley's). Food is simple, but portions are huge and affordable. The steamed sampler platter, featuring mussels, clams and shrimp, is a bargain at $9.95 and you'll need a to-go box for sure. Burgers and sandwiches are bodacious and sides like french fries and onion rings will feed the whole table. TVs are everywhere -- it's virtually impossible to sit in one of the bars or the dining room without feeling like you're courtside or in a box seat. A word of caution -- don't ask them to change the channel when Notre Dame is on. The downstairs bar can get cramped, but the upstairs pub is more open and features pool tables and Foosball for the armchair soccer jock. -- Pete Kerzel

Good Wings!
By shotcaller100292 on 09/02/2006
They have some of the best hot wings in the area! Flavorful and tasty w/enough zing to enhance, not overpower the taste. Looney's is a shining star in the area, since contrary to popular belief, the Canton/Fells Point area is overrun with some extremely OVER-PRICED, OVER-HYPED, TIRED, and MEDIOCRE restaurants. But hey, that's just my opinion. :-)

Great Food and Prices
By holew on 03/07/2005
Looney's has great pub food such as burgers, shrimp and an unbelievable order of mussels.

We have eaten there several times and always had great food. The size of the mussel order has to be seen to be believed. For $8.95 the order contained over 100, that is correct, over 100 mussels in a wonderful butter, garlic, wine sauce. We actually counted 109 mussels.

The burgers are all 1/2 pound and served with lettace, tomato, onion and whatever else you want.

The problems with Loony's is noise, especially when they have live music and the timely delivery of food. The latter problem was that all the food came too fast. We had ordered a salad, one turned out to be enough for three or four people. Before we had 25% of it finished the burgers and mussels arrived. Of course they would get cold while we finished the large salad.

Just make sure that you are very hungry when you go to Looney's.

I would give it 5 stars if it were not for the glitch in the food coming too quickly.
