Art on the walls and jazzy tunes in the air give this Federal Hill Japanese eatery a decidedly less traditional atmosphere. Servers in jeans and black polo shirts set an informal tone right from the start. A sushi bar runs the length of the restaurant and is the site of friendly repartee between the chef and diners. The narrow dining room's salmon-colored walls act as the backdrop for a rotation of work by local artists. An occasional Japanese print fills the space and reminds you what you came for: sushi. The menu does offer other Japanese dishes, such as tempura and teriyaki, and a selection of udon dishes, but the focus is on sushi. Sushi and sashimi dinners offer a medley of the more conventional raw options. But be sure to try one of the specialty rolls, such as the Baltimore roll, where Old Bay gives heat to the crab stuffed maki roll. -- Laureen Miles Brunelli

so-so....
By thePremiumBlend8 on 06/18/2008
I recently was in Baltimore again on business. I travel a lot and usually when I am there I go to Nichiban without exception. This time however, one of my friends set me up on a blind date. He apparently was an avid sushi enthusiast and told me that he would pick the place. In keeping an open mind we went to Chui's sushi in Fell's point. Unfortunately, the date turned out to be a disaster, but the food being so-so made up for it . I guess the old saying was right---once you find something good, stick to it. During my next trip to Baltimore I will definitely be back to my old favorite Nichiban instead.

1 bad review

When you read all these good reviews, with one bad one, it says something about the person who is in the minority. It says that "jinjeet111" is a loser whose personality makes good people not want to be around this person. My suggestion would be for this person to stay at home because no one likes you anyway.
