Rate and Write a Review Rams Head Tavern might just be the original brewpub -- handcrafted beers have been made daily in Annapolis since 1703, when Benjamin Fordham arrived from England and began quenching the thirsts of businessmen, politicians and seafarers in Maryland's waterfront capital. Almost three centuries later, folks still flock to West Street, where six year-round draughts and nine seasonal brews are featured. The Rams Head boasts a colonial theme, with exposed brick walls and cozy dining rooms with fireplaces. You can see and smell the beer being made, then quaff a pint that tickles your drinking fancy. Members of the tavern's "World Beer Club" try to navigate 100 beers in a ram's-horn mug. Since opening in 1989, the tavern has expanded, swallowing part of the city block. The result is a friendly, upscale restaurant featuring several dining areas, an outdoor patio, a cozy bar and a 217-seat concert hall that showcases an eclectic mix of local, regional and national acts like Lyle Lovett, Aaron Neville, Todd Rundgren, Buckwheat Zydeco, Shemekia Copeland, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and Glen Campbell. -- Pete Kerzel
