At Tapas Teatro, the dimmed lighting, interesting decor and exotic dishes all combine to create a sensuous atmosphere. This intimate Mediterranean cafe has a strong lunch and dinner following, and it is often hard to get a table. But when you do, it's worth the wait. The menu features a wide range of tapas -- the Spanish version of hors d'oeuvres. If you're looking for suggestions, the wait staff is attentive and helpful. One dish alone will not satisfy your hunger, but ordering many different dishes and sharing is the fun and style of this restaurant. The menu's memorable items include garlic shrimp, grilled lamb chops, beef tenderloin and spicy sausage. Steamed spinach, crabmeat and cheese is a good choice, as is the spicy gazpacho. The dessert menu is just as creative and tasty. Their cardamom ice cream is a must -- so is the creamy flan and chocolate hazelnut cake, leaving you to make a tough decision. The bar highlight is the authentic sangria, but also offers a wide range of wines, beers, port and sherries.
