It's hard to get past a cranky maitre'D....we arrived at Harry Brownes' 20 minutes before it opened. He told us to please come back in 20 minutes, never mentioned or suggested a reservation. We told him we would come back. 30 minutes later we came back. DO YOU HAVE A RESERVATION, he stiffly asks. NO...you never said we needed one as we looked around at a totally empty restaurant! He seated us and sort of threw the menus at us. Our waiter appeared, very stiff and vaguely friendly. We placed our order, received our food and wasn't visited again by our waiter til it was time to either get our check or order dessert. The steaks we had were very good but the cranky head-guy and stiff waiter took away from what would have been an almost picture perfect dining experience! Mr. Maitre'D....LIGHTEN UP FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!! YOU ARE TOO OLD TO BE SO STIFF AND CRANKY!!!!!!!!!! If it were MY restaurant, he'd be out the door today!!!!!!!

Everyone has an off night...Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful as reviewed before. However, we waited for 35 mintues in the upstairs bar area and we were never even acknowledged. Finally approached the bar from our sitting area to get our drinks. We were still neve approached by a wait staff member during our two hour stay in the bar area for the entertainment provided. It truly is hit or miss in Annapolis...I've lived here five years and still have not found a perfect restaurant with excellent food and service. Usually you can find one or the other.

Had anniversay dinner here while visiting from Florida. Atmosphere, food and service all top notch. Thanks!
