A true staple of Baltimore's Little Italy, Sabatino's has been around for as long as you can remember. It's the kind of place everyone has heard of and tried and -- judging by returning guests -- if you try it once you'll most likely decide to make it a major part of your Baltimore dining experience. "Sab's," as it's fondly nicknamed by locals and employees, is a comfortable place where the whole family can enjoy an Italian-style experience; it's also a haven for those craving a late-night snack or fine, full course meal. Sabatino's ambience has been created with distinctive Italian elements that provide a cozy feel. Owned by the same family since 1955, the gigantic menu focuses on homemade pastas, and dishes that include seafood, veal, chicken and beef. The Bookmaker Salad alone -- an amazing concoction created with shrimp, salami, cheese, egg and Sabatino's beloved house dressing -- has created a permanent spot for itself on that list of favorite treats you'll go back to, time and time again. -- Rachele Lawton

SAVE YOUR MONEY,
By rnbelgindpm4 on 06/13/2007
My husband surprised me for our anniversary by taking me to the #1 italian restaurant in Baltimore. The wait staff is sloppy at best. While your waiting you get to look at the holes in the walls and the mismatched silverware. When they actually do bring your food, it looks like it was dropped then scooped back on your plate. The dressing that was supposed to be "the best" tasted like chalk. We couldn't even gag it down. My ravioli was hard, when we complained, we were told they were busy. We actually ate at Germano's across the street and it was fantastic. Walk 20 steps, and enjoy good service and a meal you can actually eat!!!!

Doesn't Qualify for #1

I don't know who votes for this place as a first class restaurant, let alone the best Italtian Restaurant in Baltimore. It has no ambiance. It feels like you are sitting in a cafeteria the way the tables are so close together .The food isn't good especially for the prices. Try Boccacio's if you want great italian food, good service and a great bartender. Pricey but well worth it.

Only thing worse than the food is the service
