Family-owned and run for about 50 years, Cortese provides a family dining experience. Start with an appetizer like oysters Rockefeller, then choose your main course from an array of Italian favorites like fettuccine Alfredo, shrimp scampi and veal piccata. Or, if you've got a big group, order up one of the restaurant's delicious pizzas -- an eight-slice pie will set you back just about $6.50. If you're super-hungry and feeling a bit adventurous, try their Alfredo pie, which is a fettuccine Alfredo-topped pizza. Half orders of pastas are available for kid-sized appetites. But make sure you leave room to end the meal right -- Cortese offers homemade cheesecake, carrot cake, tiramisu, cannolis, chocolate peanut-butter pie, or midnight layer cake. Almost makes you want to have dessert first, doesn't it? Eat in or take out.

i have taken customers there for many years...feel the quality has somehow gone down and the prices gone up, since the owner died, recently...there are far too many good italian restaurants in this area, for cortese not to try to maintain the level of customer satisfaction they have held for many years..please continue to uphold your traditional values, like the recently deceased owner always did....

Steak was great. My date's pasta dish, was not really up to par with other restaurants in the area. (Consol's, or Little Venice) A bit expensive, and the pizza, a staple on Binghamton's east side; is very expensive, and in my opinion not very good.
