Angell's Bar and Grill has been winning awards for the better part of two decades. The ever- evolving American-Continental menu offers diners a unique taste of some of the more traditional Boise dishes, as well as a few pleasant surprises. For lunch, the famous Cantonese chicken salad, King Salmon, or tortellini primavera are crowd favorites. Meanwhile, dinners include the Cajun Carpetbagger Steak, blackened chicken fettuccine or the Bainbridge Island Baby Coho. Daily specials feature grilled chicken and ravioli stuffed with pesto and cheese that is topped by an Alfredo cream sauce and served with olives, zucchini and carrots. If the weather is nice, dine outdoors in the courtyard. Most entrees will cost about $12-$20, and dress is casual. Angell's Bar and Grill also is home to live music Wednesday through Friday. Reservations recommended on weekends.

ANGELL'S, Boise's Yardstick
By gigcannon on 06/08/2007
Angell's sets the standard for Downtown Boise restaurants. For over 25 years it has been an institution that demonstrates the personality and standard that demonstrates what the independent hospitality business owners can offer vs. chain-same restaurants. Angell's has always aimed high in creating "an experience" rather than a meal. For lunch, dinner, catering and a "fierce fun" bar, try Angell's Bar and Grill. It is casually-elegant and an experience that begs return visits.

used to be better
By growthis on 04/21/2007
They used to have the best steak in town- it was a shitake mushroom steak and it was great. They discontinued serving it so we have only been back once yet. When they were serving that steak, I would have rated the place excellent. Now I would only rate it as good. The ambiance is only "good" and the food is "good".

Awful, Awful Place
By romeo1echo on 05/08/2005
Sorry, I can't imagine why this place gets great reviews. I finally tried it. Ambience was the WORST EVER. There was a direct, naked light bulb shining down on our table, as seen in police interrogations. I felt like sweating and demanding my lawyer. Then the iceberg-lettuce salad came, complete with cellophane-wrapped Saltines -- CLASSY!!!! The service was performed by your woefully-commonplace pimply sixteen-year-olds who don't know how to use a waiter's corkscrew. Yikes! Who hires these kids? The beef was only average, and not particularly warm. Precooked and been sitting there awhile? Seemed like it. Mashed potatoes -- well, I've made better spuds out of a box. Very, very sad. Hardly even on par with Black Angus (I prefer BA, actually) and very, very far from a "nice" or "great" restaurant. Stay far away unless you're hungry for mediocrity.

Total Class Act
By idmediaguru on 07/02/2004
Angell's is one of Downtown's class acts! Quiet nooks, soft lights, wondrous wine list, and a menu that offers select regional seafood, steak and pasta dishes. It is a place to go for that perfect date escape. I love the patio too! Very open with a nice water feature. The staff is always courteous and friendly. I can't say enough good about this place! You must try the Trout, it is amazing!
