Nice

Nice food, but stuffy atmosphere. Not the fun style. Almost too somber. Is it because it is underneath the Simplot offices? Brrrr!

Total Class Act
By idmediaguru on 07/02/2004
Angell's is one of Downtown's class acts! Quiet nooks, soft lights, wondrous wine list, and a menu that offers select regional seafood, steak and pasta dishes. It is a place to go for that perfect date escape. I love the patio too! Very open with a nice water feature. The staff is always courteous and friendly. I can't say enough good about this place! You must try the Trout, it is amazing!

Awful, Awful Place
By romeo1echo on 05/08/2005
Sorry, I can't imagine why this place gets great reviews. I finally tried it. Ambience was the WORST EVER. There was a direct, naked light bulb shining down on our table, as seen in police interrogations. I felt like sweating and demanding my lawyer. Then the iceberg-lettuce salad came, complete with cellophane-wrapped Saltines -- CLASSY!!!! The service was performed by your woefully-commonplace pimply sixteen-year-olds who don't know how to use a waiter's corkscrew. Yikes! Who hires these kids? The beef was only average, and not particularly warm. Precooked and been sitting there awhile? Seemed like it. Mashed potatoes -- well, I've made better spuds out of a box. Very, very sad. Hardly even on par with Black Angus (I prefer BA, actually) and very, very far from a "nice" or "great" restaurant. Stay far away unless you're hungry for mediocrity.
