At the western end of the trendy Newbury Street shopping district, this understated gem is not the most centrally located hotel in Back Bay, but it is certainly one of the nicest. It is very similar to a London boutique hotel, with mostly two-room suites done up in Laura Ashley-esque style. Downstairs there's a cozy lobby and a critically acclaimed restaurant, Clio, which draws most of its clients from outside the hotel. The corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue is a busy one, so if you prefer a quieter room you might want to ask for one that's not facing the street. The "T" Green Line is just a block down the street.
