Home, Sweet HomeThe Lyric Stage was founded in 1974 as a way to introduce cheap, yet quality, theater to Boston. The company began by using the space at the Community Church of Boston on Boylston until it moved to Charles Street in 1976. Still, better digs were found in Copley Square in 1991, where $1 million was put into renovations. The TheaterThe three-quarter-in-the-round performance space holds 236 seats--all within 35 feet of the stage. The lobby outside the stage area is small but cozy and furnished with couches where you can comfortably chat about the performance, or just schmooze.
