At the RoxyPlex (formerly just the Roxy), there are a lot of entertainment choices. But perhaps the most cutting-edge option is Friday night at The Matrix. Pro DJs take control of the booth and besieges the crowd with bombastic mixes that incorporate everything that is, was and will be great in house and dance music. With the renowned RoxyPlex house music driving the night along, The Matrix throws in disco, retro and mainstream mixes that get the crowd cheering. Above the spacious dance floor, a host of laser lights flash across the room, and along with the rest of the professionally produced light show, create a nightclub scene rivaled by few in Boston. With Kiss108 in the house, hosting the event, you know the fun will be going on all night long. The Matrix's decor is 21st-century modern with greens and browns that evoke a hip South Beach feel. Whether you are on the dance floor or mingling around the bar, the club's ambiance and trendy crowd blend together well. If this all sounds enticing -- it is; the club often has to close its doors to the public early because it reaches maximum capacity. If you arrive any later than 10pm, chances are you'll be waiting a long time or may not even get in. But worry not; If the Matrix is full, there are lots of other options upstairs at the RoxyPlex. TIP: It costs $5 to get in, but if you look around and hit up the right people, you'll find free passes for your next visit. -- Carl Salminen

The Roxy upstairs is better

Place is very small and there are two rooms to dance. When you walk in there are couches to the right and a extremely small dance floor with crappy music. The other room is a lot bigger with nonstop techno music

The Matrix had great dance music, and great staff. But the place itself is small and felt really cramped. The dance floors were much too small than what they should be. I was disappointed, I expected much better.

WHATS WITH THE SILVER? DON'T THE BARTENDERS KNOW IT IS NOT THE MOST FLATERING COLOR? OTHER THAN THAT THEY ARE THE BEST LOOKING STAFF I HAVE EVER SEEN. JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THOSE BEAUTIFUL BLONDES. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THEM OUT.
