Rate and Write a Review Sick of slumming in shacks and bars for your oyster fix? Thanks to Barbara Lynch and Garrett Harker (the chef-manager of No. 9 Park), Bostonians no longer need to seek their bivalves in a beer hall. In another culinary coup for the pampered South End, the duo opted to site a second venture in an intimate, garden-level space on Tremont Street, the recessed dining room of which lends a "down the rabbit hole" feeling to one's entrance. From textured walls and slatted ceilings to an open kitchen and marble bar, B&G is a marvel of economical elegance, morphing a low-ceilinged room into an inviting jewel box. There is also an excellent outdoor dining area for warm-weather meals. The menu focuses on the main event (an impressive assortment of fresh oysters, some harvested twice daily) accompanied by an a la carte selection of apt dishes. Skeptics will be instantly assuaged by entrees like Maine lobster roll and wild king salmon (creatively served with chorizo emulsion). Adding to the authenticity are Cape Cod comfort foods such as fried Ipswich clams, New England clam chowder and fried shrimp po'boys. The extensive wine list and stellar desserts lend the final brush strokes to this pleasing picture.
