If your experience with hotel bars involves moonlighting harpists, cocktail peanuts and all the atmosphere of a furniture showroom, then it's high time you hit Bar 10. One part funky to two parts plush, the red-and-gold lounge seems worlds away from the bland beige lobby of the attached Westin Hotel.Still, Bar 10 retains the aura of mystery, the hazy allure of transience, which is part-and-parcel of hotel life. A sense of romance surrounds the drink list, as well, with its specially concocted cocktails for two. As for edibles, the bar menu offers a simple yet mighty fine selection of hors d'oeuvres, salads and pizzas, almost entirely in the $10 range (no more, as it happens, than the average martini). Highlights include the signature Mediterranean plate, an antipasto tower of power; the ultrasuave sweet onion-and-duck confit tart with chvre; and the rather elegant two-cheese Toscana pizza topped with arugula and artichoke hearts. But cocktail purists needn't despair: Bowls of mixed nuts are still yours for the asking. -- Ruth Tobias
