Arlington's Capitol Theater is what can be described as a neighborhood movie house. The concession stand offers tea and frozen yogurt, while the lobby accommodates early comers with small tables and chairs at which to enjoy a pre- movie drink and chat. The Capitol is a second-run theater and does not sport oversized screens, booming sound systems or large auditoriums. However, none of the theaters seems lacking and the adult admission price is usually less than matinee prices at bigger theaters. It's a great place to catch those Hollywood blockbusters that got past you the first time around. The neighborhood around the theater is convenient for those who want to do the dinner-and-a-movie thing. Pizza places, Chinese food, Italian food and even some not-quite-but-almost-upscale restaurants are nearby. It's a charming, and economical, part of any dinner-and-a-movie date. TIP: Parking for the theater is tough. If you don't want to drive, the #77 bus will take you down Mass. Ave. and right to the front door. -- Carl Salminen

i've lived right down the street from the capitol theater all my life and it has never dissapointed me. the prices are right, the service is good, and not only do they show big movies, but also a fare share of indie flicks too- why pay $9 at kendall when you could pay $6 at the capitol?
