Central Square hosts its own Irish immigrant, The Field, a quaint Irish pub that one would expect to see in Boston or Brighton, but not in this quirky neighborhood. Cambridge is known for welcoming diversity, though, and this holds true for its appreciation of the simple, authentic Irish bar, filling it with festive patrons most nights of the week. Inside, bold street signs point you to Cork and Kinsale while true Irish kitsch takes you back to the old country. This is a place to drink and relax with your buddies and the native Irish bartenders, or perhaps play a bit of pool or darts in the small side room. You can find imported beer on draft here, like Bellhaven, Newcastle and Carlsberg; the food is classic Irish pub fare as well as standard bar staples, so feel free to order that beef stew with a side of nachos. In the fall, The Field offers an "Irish breakfast," with french toast on Dublin brown bread.
