For Boston's transplanted Southerners, Redbones is a little taste of home. The food may be messy, the wait long, the tables crowded and the room noisy, but it's all worth it for some of the finest barbecue in a town where authentic 'cue is hard to come by. The upstairs dining area is a large, spacious room with rustic wooden tables, while the bar and dining downstairs are a bit funkier, with loud blues music and a raucous atmosphere. It's often easier to get a table down here than upstairs, so be sure to ask if the wait is long overhead. The menu is a straightforward meaty heaven, with four kinds of ribs (Memphis, Texas, Arkansas and baby back), down-home sides and comforting desserts like pecan pie, sweet potato pie and caramel custard. Meats and sauce are available by the pound to take out, as are sides by the quart. If you're interested in being the coolest company in the business park, Redbones will bring over one (or more) of its pits-on-wheels with requisite pit master in tow. Nothing says, "Thank you for that fourth-quarter profit margin" like a whole pig on a spit.

I grew up here in Florida and I have yet to find a Bar B Que place that come's close to Redbone's. Everytime I go to the Boston area I make several trip's to Redbone's. I cannot wait to move back to the Boston area so I can go more often. I am open to checking out other Bar B Que place's but for now. Redbone's is awesome.

Miss the city life and now in Johnstown Pa. Every time I visit relatives in the Boston area I head straight for Redbones. Best ribs I've ever had. Even in Pa, noone even comes close.

I used to love Redbone's and went there frequently, always getting the pulled pork and the corn pudding. I enthusiastically recommended the place to friends and even took out of town guests there. After being away from Boston for 16 years, I returned last year and made a beeline for Redbone's. The quality has changed for the worse. My sandwich wasn't bad, but it wasn't the meaty delight it used to be and the corn pudding lacked flavor. "OK, anyone can have a bad night," I said, although a meal at Redbone's isn't cheap. Went back a month later and it was even worse. My sandwich was all fat, and even though the server cheerfully brought me a big plate of better quality meat, the damage was done. I should have said something to the manager, but instead just left. Another of my fave Boston places, sadly gone.

We had a party of 20 men a few years ago and, based on its reputation, got all the food from Redbones. Most everyone was dissapointed. No one wanted to take home leftovers. Blue Ribbon in Newton is a lot better than Redbones.
