Blue Ginger, located in Wellesley, brings urban dining and sophistication to the suburbs. In celebration of its 10-year anniversary, Blue Ginger expanded with a Rockwell Group-designed renovation, creating a chic, feng-shui inspired space with three distinct dining options. Enhancements include an updated main dining room in which to savor Ming's signature East-West cuisine, three private dining rooms, and the new Lounge at Blue Ginger, complete with cozy banquettes and a 10-stool granite bar. An Asian Tapas menu is served in the Lounge, featuring casual, shareable dishes like "Ming's Bings," Ming's East-West take on the burger. "Blue Ginger is unusual, not only because of the food or the room, but because it's a neighborhood restaurant of a type not found too often in the Boston area...those of us who live farther away will just have to travel now that the secret is out." --The Boston Globe *NOTE* Reservations are not accepted for The Lounge at Blue Ginger

Lacking
By juanwestinwind on 05/01/2007
I have been to Blue Ginger three times now, and sadly the last two times have not met up to the expectations of the first visit. My wife and I went last night (Apr 30 2007) for our anniversary. We left feeling dissapointed. The service was average. Our waitress seemed disinterested a little aloof. The food was overcooked and fairly bland, certainly not meeting up to the mouth watering descriptions on the menu. For the prices they charge, we expected a lot more.

Totally overrated!
By fancieryu on 02/18/2007
The cafe is owned by celebrity chef Ming Tsai. You would expect it to be a cuisinary treat. Well, I tried, and found out that it was anything but. To be fair, the food presentations was pretty good. The food LOOKED delicious in the plate, but you would expect it in a $60/person resturant anyway. The taste was pretty bad, though. I ordered smoked duck in clay pot. The duck meat was bland, the stock was greasy and the accompanying vegetable (carrot shreds) was bland yet greasy too. The service was not that good. There are too many tables in a crowded room and too few waiters/waitresses serving the tables. We had to wait for quite a while before we get the waitress to take orders for us. Conclusion: There are many good ways to enjoy a meal at a price of $60 per person, but Blue Ginger is definitely not among them. Not recommended!
