Rate and Write a Review Considered by many to be one of the best (and certainly one of the busiest) Chinese restaurants in Boston, Grand Chau Chow is the big brother of Chau Chow Seafood across the street. The name is derived from the Chau Chow people of Swatow, a city in the Canton province of China, and a cuisine Grand Chau Chow specializes in. It's a genre that's popular here in Boston; fans come from all over to sample the seafood, fashioned from both the typical (shrimp, squid, clams) and the unusual (abalone, shark's fin). There are also plenty of noodles, soups and meat dishes for those who would prefer to stay out of the ocean. If you have the heart, you can watch your dinner swimming around in large fish tanks around the restaurant, or perhaps just go for a nice veggie dish. Service can be rushed at times, but don't be afraid to relax and order course by course to ensure a well-timed dining experience.
